Audit Assistant

If hired, the State Board for Educator Certification will require all first time applicants for an initial credential to be fingerprinted as part of a national criminal background check. A cost of up to $49. 00 will be charged for fingerprinting.
Primary Purpose:
To assist in providing support to the district s Internal Audit Department. Aid audit staff with assurance and consulting services, and other tasks as assigned by the Director of Internal Audit. Responsible for assisting with campus and departmental audits.
  • Must act ethically and in a confidential capacity to the district s Internal Audit department.
  • Be free from conflicts of interest relating to district operations, staff or clients.
  • Assist with the preparation of correspondence, presentations and general office reporting responsibilities.
  • Support audit staff with assigned project-based work and research tasks as needed.
  • Perform secondary review of audit documents.
  • Provide backup to the Senior Administrative Assistant for all aspects of general office coordination and functions.
  • Assists with the maintenance of the office calendar to coordinate work flow and meetings.
  • Prepare documents/presentations using various application packages (e. g. PowerPoint, Prezi, Adobe Professional).
  • Keep informed and comply with district code of conduct, policies, regulations and guidelines.
  • Perform general clerical duties to include, but is not limited to, copying, scanning, faxing, mailing and filing.
  • Assist in set-up, maintenance, scheduling and trouble-shooting of office technology.
  • Comply with the department s record retention schedule.
  • Demonstrates regular and prompt attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Internal Audit.

General Qualification Guidelines:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of closely-related work experience, required.
  • Experience in finance or business operations required.
  • School district experience preferred
  • Associate Degree in Office Management or related field preferred.
  • TASBO Certification preferred.

  • Knowledge of computer systems, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Professional, MS Exchange; philosophy, goals, and policies of the district; board policy and administrative regulations; and recordkeeping techniques and school district operations and finance.
  • Skill in basic troubleshooting computer issue; written and oral communication; grammar, including usage, punctuation and spelling; organization; proficient typing and use of software; interpersonal relations; and customer service.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality; multi-task and manage multiple projects; use computer and application software; work well with students, staff, and parents; problem solve by using analytical skills and knowledge; work with tight deadlines; manage multiple priorities and projects; make appropriate decisions.; maintain records and prepare clear and conclusive communications; and meet deadlines.

Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:
  • Often operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i. g., a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer).
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Frequently communicates with other employees or public. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
  • Ability to understand, remember, and communicate routine, factual information.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work schedules of themselves and others on long-term basis.
  • Ability to compose material such as reports, work-related manuals, publications of limited scope or impact and to assist with presentations outside of the immediate work area.

  • Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
